At Graydon Hall Nursery Schools (GHNS), we believe every family should have access to high-quality early learning and care. We participate in both the City of Toronto and York Region Child Care Fee Subsidy programs, helping make licensed child care more affordable for eligible families. Please note that Stouffville Village Child Care is part of York Region, while our other locations are within the City of Toronto.
How Subsidy Supports Families
Child care subsidy helps reduce the cost of care, allowing families to maintain stable child care while working, attending school, or participating in training programs. For children, continuity of care supports strong relationships, consistent routines, and positive developmental outcomes.
What Parents Need to Do
1. Apply through the correct municipality
Families must apply for subsidy through the municipality where the GHNS location they are seeking care in is licensed:
- City of Toronto locations: Apply through the City of Toronto Child Care Fee Subsidy Program
- York Region location: Apply through York Region Children’s Services
Once submitted, applications are placed on a centralized waitlist for that municipality.
2. Contact Graydon Hall Nursery Schools
While on the subsidy waitlist, families are encouraged to contact GHNS to discuss program options, availability, and anticipated start dates at their preferred location.
3. Respond promptly when contacted
When funding becomes available, a caseworker from the City of Toronto or York Region will contact you to review eligibility and request documentation. Prompt responses help prevent delays.
4. Confirm your child care placement
Once subsidy is approved and a space is available, the subsidy will be applied directly to your child’s placement at GHNS.
Apply Early
Subsidy waitlists can be lengthy. Families are encouraged to apply as early as possible — even during pregnancy — to improve access to funding when care is needed.
